A small community center for the elderly in downtown San José de Costa Rica. The building incorporates a bamboo brise-soleil, made of large-diameter guadua canes, in its south and west façades. This natural skin responds to the site's specific climate and urban conditions by means of its porosity, achieved by the variable size of the gaps between canes.
