NYC sidewalks are cluttered with objects. Some of them work but most don't. Few of them maintain their integrity over time; most deteriorate irreversibly.

Variations on the tripod version: for several bikes [1] | Original tripod version [2]
A lamppost, a small tree or a signal pole is a secure location to lock a bike. It is also convenient for the user, since vertical poles are abundant in the city. Also, nobody is going to uproot a lamppost to steal a bike.

Sunflower signs in the city indicate where the bike racks are located [3] | Locking options for the tripod [4]
Existing bike racks are rigid and dictate the way of locking one’s bike. They use the repetition of the same unit (module) to increase the number of bikes one may park. They do not adapt to the existing urban landscape, they just populate the sidewalks.

Grouping of tripods by the subway station [5] and [6]
Bundle is a proposal for Manhattan that adapts previous studies about flexible urban objects. A tripod structure made of large-diameter steel cable, capped with an easily identifiable piece that allows for multiple ways of locking bikes to it. Inexpensive, vandal-proof, iconic.
